Newsletter – Term 2

Welcome to Term 2, 2012

We have all enjoyed listening to the many exciting stories about the school holidays. The students are settling in well to Term 2 and are all looking forward to another wonderful term of learning.

 Maths

  • Number

English

Writing:                                 Factual Descriptions and Information Reports

Reading:                                Modelled, Guided and Independent activites

Talking and Listening:       Topic Talks

Handwriting:                        Continuing with joins and presentation

Spelling:                                Consolidating skills

Grammar:                             Pronouns, adjectives and verbs

 Science and Technology

Students will be studying the Great Barrier Reef. In this unit students investigate the natural and human components of this reef as well as the groups involved with the use, protection and conservation of the Great Barrier Reef.

HSIE

This term we will be studying the 2012 Olympic Games. In this unit, students will investigate the 2012 Olympic Games. They will research and gather information, communicate understandings, think critically and use technology.

 CAPA

  • Dance will be with Jacqui L and will recommence in the hall.
  • Music will be with Mrs L on Wednesday and Mr P on Thursdays.
  • Drama and Art will be part of our class program.

PDHPE

Sport for Term 2 will involve Sports Pro 3-6 every Monday from Weeks 2-10. This involves developing track and field athletics skills.

 Program Achieve

Students will be learning how to be a confident individual.

Library

Stage 2 teachers together with Mrs J will continue with the library program.

3C and 4G Tuesdays

3K and 4L Thursdays

Korean

Korean language classes will be with Miss S

 Homework

Homework will be handed out on Mondays and collected on Fridays. Please check all of your child’s homework before it is handed in. Students have to see the class teacher before Friday if they are unable to complete their homework.

Important dates to remember:

1. Wednesday 9th May excursion to the Sydney Aquarium and Imax.

2. Naplan on the 15th, 16th and 17th May.
